CASology Week 302: SQUIGGLE

Welcome to Week 302 at CASology!

The dictionary defines SQUIGGLE as a short line that curls or loops in an irregular way so I started the week thinking I was going to make a card with squiggly strings tied to balloons and I'm really not sure how I ended up with this card. The creative process is fascinating some weeks, isn't it?

I'll blame getting distracted by CAS(E) This Sketch! #273 and thinking how the Simon Says Stamp Handwritten Sentiments could be stamped and repeated for their challenge.

The MFT Friend Request and Smart Phone dies provided the other design elements needed for this card. The squiggly hello is stamped and embossed and then the panel was inked with Twisted Citron Distress Ink. The phone was assembled and adhered to a Smoky Shadow card base below the heat embossed Friend Request sentiment.

The design team has fun cards this week!

Papertrey Ink May 2018 Blog Hop

I'm participating in the Papertrey Ink May 2019 Blog Hop today where this charming summer glamping party is our inspiration.

I incorporated a number of design elements from the photo into my card: floral bouquet, black gingham, curved line of the camper and rustic wood details.

My love affair with the Friendship Jar Spring Fillers Stamp set continues as I took one of the tulip images stamped and die cut while creating with Joyce a few weeks ago and colored it with Copic markers.

The stems are wrapped with a scrap of gingham ribbon and then a tiny tag stamped with a sentiment from Lovely Layers is added. The bouquet is popped up on a curved edge, wood embossed panel over a Bitty Big striped paper panel.

I'm also linking this card to Seize the Birthday! where the current challenge is to use patterned paper in your card design.

"Patterned Paper"

I can't wait to see the beautiful cards linked in the Blog Hop gallery!

CASology Week 301: THRILL

Welcome to Week 301 at CASology!

The Papersmooches Simply Said sentiment came to mind immediately when I saw the cue word THRILL and I thought it would pair perfectly with the Memory Box Starlit Breeze border die to illustrate a happy, joyous feeling.

The border die cuts a diagonal line across a white panel with the sentiment curved to follow the same line. The panel is then adhered to a slightly larger gold shimmer panel. A few gold shimmer stars and dots are added into the openings to finish off the card.

The design team has terrific cards this week!

Twofer #5: Butterflies + CTD#493 + Seize the Birthday

I squeaking in at the deadline for Color Throwdown #493 with my entry for Twofer Challenge #5: Butterflies.

A watercolor panel is colored with a lime green and aqua Zig markers and the Poppystamps Princess Butterfly die cut first. The white panel is stamped with a MFT Brushed Birthdays sentiment and then the large butterfly adhered just along the center line. Needing a few more butterflies, an ancient Martha Stewart punch came to the rescue.

This card is also being added to Seize the Birthday in the Anything Goes category.

With Twofer challenge to make something entirely different with the butterfly die, I transformed it into angel wings on this second card.

A triangle die from PTI's Hello Sunshine provided the body and a small circle die the head. I am kind of in love with the way this clean and simple card turned out.

All that was needed is a simple sentiment from PTI Merry Christmas mini stamp set embossed with a glitter gold to finish off the design.

Muse #266 + Poppystamps Challenge #44 + Seize the Birthday

I've had the Poppystamps Challenge #44: Patterned Paper Please in the back of my mind all month and when I saw Tracey's sweet card for Muse #266 started working with the idea of making a patterned paper elephant.

I didn't get far with my elephant, so turned to another African animal and found greater success with my Poppystamps Giraffe Trio. The gray from the elephant inspired my card base, the square block from Tracey's design became a square cutout and I used a similar "wishing you" sentiment from Simon Says Stamp.

The giraffes are adhered to the card base with glue dots for a bit of lift and the top panel adhered with foam tape.

I am also linking this card to Seize the Birthday in their Anything Goes category.

CASology Week 300: COPPER

Welcome to Week 300 at CASology!

I took a bit of poetic license with our cue word this week and pretended a bronze metallic paper was copper. Given that bronze is a copper alloy, it isn't that much of a stretch. The metallic paper was used to cut a Memory Box Watering Can die.

Bronze doesn't oxidize as much as copper, but I wanted to give a verdigris, weathered look to the die cut and achieved the look with a few swipes of Peacock Feathers DOX and clear embossing powder. The watering can is filled with Massa Leaf die cuts and a PTI Thanks So Much sentiment finishes off the card.

The design team has great cards this week!

CASology Week 299: MARINE

Welcome to Week 299 at CASology!

There are so many directions you can go with the cue word this week! I pulled out a stamp set from the NBUS pile and stamped this all-in-one Imaginisce image and sentiment on a white panel. I love that the image can be seen as a regular fish tail or a mermaid.

A touch of color is added with Copic markers and Wink of Stella added for the shine & glitter of fish scales. For a little extra interest, the MFT Stitched Rectangle Scallop Frame die is added to the stamped panel before they are popped up on the card base.

Check out the fabulous design team cards!

FMS #335 + CTD #491 + Seize the Birthday Anything Goes

Are you lucky enough to live near crafting friends? Earlier this week my CASology teammate, Joyce, invited me over to play. Getting together with a card making friend means stamping and die cutting with products I don't have in my stash, and at the top of my list to stamp off was an older PTI stamp set, Friendship Jar Spring Fillers, because of the beautiful tulip bouquet.

Even after stamping and die cutting a few bouquets I still wasn't done with these tulips and Joyce was generous enough to let me take the set home to play with heat embossing and watercoloring.

For this bouquet I used the Color Throwdown #491 colors and then realized the Freshly Made Sketches #225 would provide the perfect design to use it on a card.

Zig Real Brush markers are used to color the image before the stems were wrapped with twine to bring in the Kraft color. An Avery Elle sentiment is stamped on the PTI Tiny Tag and the completed die cut is popped up on the scalloped oval panel.

I am also linking this card to Seize the Birthday where Anything Goes for the current challenge.

Muse #264 + FMS #335

Lynne's beautiful card as Guest Designer for Muse #264 and the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #335 inspired this Mother's Day card.

Focussing on Lynne's flowers and colors, the bouquet from Avery Elle's Thanks a Bunch stamp set is paired with the So Happy sentiment on the scalloped oval panel.

Instead of highlighting my blooms with glossy accents, I used Wink of Stella and added a trio of Pretty Pink Posh jewels.

CASology Week 298: JUNGLE

Welcome to Week 298 at CASology!

So how did I get from the cue word JUNGLE to a card using a cityscape die you may be asking yourself? It's the concrete jungle, of course!

The Altenew Sketchy Cities America sentiment is stamped and heat embossed on the Impress Seattle Skyline die cut before being popped up on a Hawaiian Shores panel. The panel is also popped up on the card base.

The design team has fantastic cards for you this week!
