CTS #101 + Muse #85 & MM #136 + Simon Says

We have had a great Thanksgiving weekend here, with a very nontraditional meal when Stefan decided he wanted to grill lamb on the spit. Lots of fun family time and very little crafting time until this morning, when I went to work on a couple more Christmas cards.

This first card is inspired by Challenge #136 from Merry Monday to use Red, Green & White with this super inspiration photo.

This clean and simple card pairs a modern tree die with a few enamel dot baubles and a simple sentiment.

I am also entering this card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, where Anything Goes this week.

My second card is inspired by this sweet beauty from Caroline Paton, the Guest Designer for the Muse #85 challenge this week.

I took the tree & bird elements, along with the color palette for my card.

The sentiment from PTI's O'Tannenbaum stamp set is curved to follow the line of the circle panel and split between the panel and card base.

A Memory Box Resting Bird sits on the snow dusted Memory Box Twiggy Tree.

The card design was also inspied by CAS(E) this Sketch! #101.

Papertrey Ink November 2014 Blog Hop Take 2

I am back with a second card for the Papertrey Ink November 2014 Blog Hop. You can find all the details and play along over here at Capture the Moment.

When I saw the theme for this month was "snow", I thought it was the perfect opportunity to post a card I made for Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking magazine's World Card Making Day Contest. This one was not a winner :)

I die cut a curved edge piece from the white panel and then mounted this panel over a blue watercolored panel.

The sentiment is created with a Wet Pain Christmas die and stamp. Snowflakes, Wink of Stella, stickles, gems and sequins finish the card off.

I can't wait to see what everyone else has created for the hop!

Papertrey ink November 2014 Blog Hop

For this month's Papertrey Ink Blog Hop we are challenged to be inspired by snow. You can check out the details and join in the fun over here at Capture the Moment.

I pulled out my new O'Tannenbaum stamp set and played with a few different ideas before settling on this stamped and heat embossed tree. The third step of this multi-step image was clear embossed so that when the panel was inked it looked like snow dancing around the tree.

The tree image is die cut and layered on a piece of patterned vellum paper before the sentiment panel is added with a Wet Paint Christmas die nestled into the stamped portion.

I'm happy to be adding another card to the Christmas stack and can't believe we are only a month away from the big day!

Muse #94 + PS Sparks Nov 16-22 Anything Goes + Merry Monday #135 Christmas Bells

I was playing around with the die cut technique used in Marion Vagg's card for Muse #94 today.

With Anything Goes at the Paper Smooches Sparks challenge, I pulled out my Fresh Snow stamps to use, along with a sentiment from Christmas Sampler.

The snowflake was stamped first, then "peace" die cut from the panel and the rest of the sentiment selectively stamped.

The "peace" was die cut several more times from scraps of white and aqua cardstock. These are adhered together, with the stamped die cut on top, before being inset back into the stamped panel.

Wink of Stella adds a bit of twinkle to the die cut and a trio of bells is dangled from one side of the stamped panel before it is adhered to the card base.

I am also going to link this card up to Merry Monday #135 Christmas Bells.

CAS(E) this Sketch #100 + CASology 122: Flag & The Card Concept #23: Krafty Christmas Take 2

I still haven't decided if I'm going to mass produce a Christmas card for mail out this year, or continue to make as many one of a kind cards as I can. While I'm still thinking about it, I added two more to the stack.

This first card is my second take on The Card Concept #23 Krafty Christmas challenge and in the Clean & Layering category again (I think).

I had made this layered snowflake wreath from a Memory Box die a little while ago and never used it as originally planned.

To keep the design simple, an open frame is made with two square dies nested together and a matching enamel dot is place in the middle of the snowflakes. This is another sentiment from the Technique Tuesday Jingle All The Way stamp set that I've used a few times this week.

A close up lets you see the twinkle from a Wink of Stella brushed over both the vellum and cardstock die cuts.

This second card is based on CAS(E) this Sketch #100. Yes, 100!!! There is even more inspiration this week, as past Design Team members have joined the current Design Team to provide some extra amazing cards.

I really wanted to help celebrate the milestone and play along this week but, even with all the great DT inspiration, was having a really hard time translating this sketch into a unique design. Is wasn't until I saw the CASology Week 22 cue card: Flag that an idea came together for me.

I added a piece of patterned paper to the card base, carefully cutting it to center the "don't peek until Dec 24th" phrase, and then cut a vellum flag and white cardstock flag to layer over it. These layers are only adhered together at the top, allowing a bit of swing and movement between the layers.

Part of the sentiment is stamped on the white panel before it is embossed for added texture. The second sentiment is stamped and heat embossed in silver on the vellum.

A thin line of Diamond Stickles adds a frosty finish to the card.

The Card Concept #23 Krafty Christmas + Merry Monday #135 Christmas Bells

I have a card to share that is influenced by The Card Concept #23 A Krafty Christmas challenge and Merry Monday #135 Christmas Bells.

For this Clean & Layering card, I created a simple swag tied together with bells and Baker's twine.

These little bells were picked up after the holiday season last year and have an elongated teardrop shape that I really love. The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday's Jingle All the Way stamp set.

A couple of weekends ago we were in Phoenix and I managed to squeeze in a very quick stop at Scraps of Love which was oh so conveniently located between our friends' place and the hockey arena. It is a great store for both cardmakers and scrapbookers and I managed to leave with this little Impression Obsession Leaf die.

Merry Monday #134: Ornaments + Virginia's View #9: Metallics & CASology 121: Festive + Muse #93 & Festive Friday #44

It is starting to feel a little like Christmas around here. This morning the family attended a local holiday breakfast and toy drive with Santa. It is the second year we have been involved with this event and we almost missed it as I would have bet money that it didn't take place until after Thanksgiving last year, but I was wrong.

My son, who we have forgiven for aiming corner kicks into the pool equipment, was off for his first driving lesson so I distracted myself by making a few holiday cards.

This first one is for the Merry Monday Challenge #134: Ornaments. The challenge is to create a card with ornaments in silver/gray and blue.

I created a a silver & blue card, with ornaments. The tree is stamped with Delicata Silver Shimmer ink and the ornaments with Memento Paris Dusk ink. Dots of Glossy Accents are added to the stamped ornaments to create baubles.

A Hero Arts sentiment is stamped and heat embossed on a vellum banner to finish the card off.

I am also entering this one in Virginia's View Challenge #9: All Things Metallic.

This second card is my favorite for the day. I loved Therese Calvird's clean & simple triangle tree on her card as the Muse #93 and played around for a while with my Christmas tree stamps.

I wasn't happy with any of them and started looking through my collection for triangle shapes until I found exactly what I was looking for in PTI's Hello Sunshine stamp set.

The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday's Jingle All the Way stamp set. This card is also being entered in CASology Week 121: Festive challenge.

The final card is inspired by the photo for Festive Friday Challenge #44.

Are you surprised that I didn't use my Rustic Wreath on this card :) The photo reminded my of this pretty MFT wreath die which layers up beautifully.

This is another clean & simple card, with three layers of the wreath, a few enamel dots and a red silk ribbon paired with a larger PTI sentiment,

MIM#188: Ombre Background + Muse DT Call

I couldn't resist playing a little more with my Memory Box wave stencil and a warm color palette to make another card for the Make It Monday 188: Stamping Ombre Backgrounds challenge from Laura Bassen at Capture the Moment. I know the title is "stamping ombre backgrounds", but the challenge details say only to include at least on Papertrey Ink product and an ombre background, so I think I'm good to go.

This time Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed Distress Inks were blended over the stencil image. The stencil was lifted and shifted many times to ensure the entire panel was inked.

A Wet Paint die is used for the main part of the sentiment, with a stamped sentiment from PTI's Thanks All Ways stamp set finishing it off. The same word stamp is available in the Wet Paint stamp set, but the font spacing was too wide for my inked panel.

I am also entering this card in the Muse Design Team Call that is happening over at the Muse Card Challenge right now. This is one of my favorite challenges and I had the pleasure of Guest Designing earlier in the year. Not only is it fun to see how the Muse design can inspire such different cards, the challenge requires us to actively participate in both commenting and voting for our weekly favorites.

This month long challenge closes on Dec 11, so there is lots of time fot you to link up a card too. Just as with the weekly challenges, everyone is welcome to cast a vote for the new Designer once the challenge closes.

MIM188: Ombre Backgrounds + Virginia's View #9: All Things Metallic + PC&S November Gallery Challenge

I was having a very nice day, looking forward to a family movie night, when my sweet little boy came in and said "mom, I think the pool is leaking". Confused, I follow him to our equipment and see the coupling connecting the pump to the filter has been sheared off?!

I'm trying to process what I'm looking at when my husband comes up behind me and says "that must have been one heck of a kick." The good news is someone's soccer kick has reached a whole new power level, the bad news is it looks like family movie night will be postponed for family pool pump repair night.

While I'm waiting for the needed pieces to be picked up, I thought I'd post this card I made for a few challenges.

The Dangling Stars were die cut from gold shimmer card stock, but it wasn't until I saw Laura Bassen's Stamped Ombre Backgrounds challenge for Make It Monday #188 that the design came together.

The Wet Paint Holiday sentiment is stamped and clear embossed on a white panel before a Memory Box Wave stencil is used to ink on layers of color.

I started with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, then added Salty Ocean, Faded Jeans, Dusty Concord and a touch of Pumice Stone. The stencil was shifted so the waves of color blend and overlap and no white is left showing.

The die cut is attached to the top of the inked panel and a few stars adhered to the panel, a few popped up a bit with glue dots and some left to hang free.

I am linking this card to Virginia's View #9: All Things Metallic and Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking's November 2014 Gallery Challenge to use gold.

Fusion {Embossed Ombre} + Paper Smooches November Anything Goes

I'm ignoring my To Do list for a minute to quickly post this card I made last night after seeing the new Fusion (Embossed Ombre} challenge.

I was inspired by DT member Kelly's layered snowflakes to pull out my Paper Smooches Fresh Snow stamps and, since Anything Goes for the Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge this week, I am also linking this card up there.

I cleared embossed several snowflakes and then stamped a few more and embossed them with a holographic embossing powder, before inking Peacock Feathers Distress Ink on the panel.

A vellum snowflake die cut is layered over a white cardstock snowflake and a Prima gem adds glitter  to the center.

Now I really have to run :)
